Café con Leslie: Heat, the ultimate decluttering secret, and the email of a lifetime...

Welcome back to another edition of Café con Leslie, our weekly virtual coffee date where you can catch up on all the latest news, gossip, and whatever else is happening in our lives at the moment.  So grab a cafecito and let's chat...

*First thing on my mind is that the heat is really getting to me. And I am really trying to keep my promise to not complain about the heat, but it's getting bad and I am now counting the days until the rain season begins, which I hope and pray is sooner rather than later.

I can deal with the heat, but what's killing me are the headaches and migraines. As I write this I am on day four of a migraine/headache that just doesn't want to go away completely. The pain is not as bad as it was on day one, and I am able to function, but one headache-free day would be nice.

*The heat isn't entirely to blame for this headache of mine. Nervous tension also played a minor part. I received an email last week with an exciting and interesting job opportunity which would be a dream come true for me. The emails led to a phone call, which made me all kinds of nervous, because I rarely ever talk on the phone anymore and on the rare occasion that I do, it's NEVER in English. Thankfully the phone call wasn't a total fail! I find out this week if I get the job. (More nerves!) But if I don't, it truly is an honor just to have even been considered and this amazing opportunity helped me realize what exactly my big picture dreams are and now I can go about pursuing those dreams.

*We are still working on clearing out the old house. We are selling, giving away and getting rid of almost everything we owned. I have read countless books on organizing and decluttering a home that suggest starting with babysteps, sticking to a strict cleaning schedule, or only keeping those things that bring you joy. But really the best way I've found is to move to a smaller home where you'll squeeze a family of six into three small bedrooms, an already occupied kitchen, and one bathroom. If what you have doesn't fit in one of those rooms, get rid of it! I still have to find a place here at my father-in-law's to store our photos, photo albums, and a few items I can't bear to part with. I also have to go through the kiddies' off-season clothes I have in our old storage room, not to mention their old school books, artwork and school projects. There's a washing machine and industrial sewing machine to sell. And I have to figure out what I'm going to do with the few holiday decorations I have left from that time my suegro accidentally threw away my Halloween decorations (read Skipping Halloween???) when he helped clean our storage room. Super easy, right?

*My sister-in-law came to visit from the US this weekend. It was a short visit, but it's always nice to see her and my father-in-law lights up when she's around.

*Jack's soccer team is going for another round of games in the Mini-World Cup the league is playing this season. Originally each team was only going to play five games, but seeing as that would've resulted in the shortest fútbol season ever, another five games have been added.

*And as if you needed me to point this out to you, my Blog Every (Week) Day in May was a bust. But still I managed to publish a dozen blog posts in just one month, which is more than I posted last year. So for me it wasn't a total fail, and I plan to continue posting somewhat regularly in June too.

How was your week? Tell me all about it in the comments below and don't leave anything out!
