El Final de Una Era (The End of an Era) #SpanishFriday

Today I'm participating in Spanish Friday, hosted by my good friend Tracy from Latinaish. Don't read or speak Spanish?  Don't worry!  Just scroll down a bit for the English translation.

English translation:

If you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know what happened this week. But for those of you that don't use Instagram, I'm going to share the big news with you here on the blog...

This week, for the first time in more than 50 years, my dear father-in-law has shaved off his mustache.

It's been two days since it happened, and I still can't believe it.

It all started as a game. My sister-in-law, who is visiting from the US, brought my father-in-law an electric shaver and was teaching him how to use it. We had just finished eating breakfast so we were all still gathered together in the kitchen. Dr Manny, the other dentist who works on the 2nd floor of my father-in-law's house, suggested that my father-in-law also shave off his mustache too.  My father-in-law immediately said no, but Dr. Manny kept teasing. He even offered to pay my sister-in-law 100 pesos (about 8 or 9 US dollars) if she shaved off her dad's mustache. But my father-in-law continued to say no.

But then he got an offer that he just couldn't refuse.

We told my father-in-law that if he shaved off his mustache, my Hubby would also shave off his mustache, along with his goatee that my father-in-law has never liked. That was all the prompting he needed and the rest is now history.

  2. Jajaja, se ven guapos los dos! ... Carlos is always changing his facial hair that at this point I don't even notice now when he does something different. One week he has a mustache, the next he doesn't, then he'll have a goatee, then he doesn't. Then he'll have a mustache and goatee, then he'll be clean shaven. LOL

  3. ahhh! You gave me a bit of Spanish reading practice this morning! I think there were a couple words I didn't know mixed in there--but bigote is definitely one that I know! I remember when my Grandpa shaved off his mustache after having one for 20 years--he looked so different!
