Friday Fragments: This, That & The Other

Half-Past Kissin' TimeIt's been awhile since I last participated in a Friday Fragments with Mrs. Fours at Half-Past Kissin' Time. With so much going on right now, I thought this would be a perfect way to share it all in one place.

The kiddies finished taking their exams for the first bimester (there's 5 in total in a school year), so this week (and last) Hubby & I attended the parent teacher meetings at the kiddies' 3 schools.  I couldn't be any prouder of my 4 kiddies.  The highest GPA a child can get at school here in Mexico is 10.  Hope has an 8.6, Ashley an 8.9, and Nick & Jack both have a 9.4.

Speaking of school, it's not all sunshine and roses.  Hope is having some trouble, of the Mean Girls kind, and got into a fight at school earlier this week.  I'm not going to say much more about it (at least until the situation is resolved), but we'd really appreciate your prayers in dealing with these bullies.

I'm currently working on a big project that is due December 1st, so I'm not blogging much here or over on my food blog. I'm suffering from blogging withdrawals and major blogger guilt.  As soon as I am able, I will reveal all the details of this big project.

I got a new laptop last week, after my desktop computer kicked the bucket after 7 years of faithful service.  I'll tell you all about my new toy soon.  (I love it!)  But this afternoon, I spent a little more than an hour uninstalling something called the iminent virus.  It was a major pain in the butt to do, and it almost made me cry. A certain teenage boy, whom shall remain nameless, downloaded some gaming thingamajig and the virus came with it.  So now no one is allowed to play with my new toy EVER until further notice.

It is getting pretty cold. (Like in the mid to high 50's.) I don't usually start to complain about the cold until late December/early January.  But I'm f-f-f-freezing!  And it's raining!  It's not supposed to rain in November. Rain season is usually only during the summer months.  But for some reason it's rained more in the last week than it did during the entire rain season.  My suegro (FIL) says this is the first time it's rained in November, in his lifetime.  (He's 73.)  The only good thing about the cold and the rain is that the mosquitoes are finally leaving me alone.  Yay!

I stopped drinking my beloved Mexican Coca-Cola last month, and pretty much every other kind of soda too.  As much as I loved my glass bottle of Coke, it was time for me to give it up.  I've gone from drinking 2 to 3 Cokes a day, to none at all.  Occasionally I'll have a Diet Coke, but that's the only kind of soda I'm drinking these days.

I know there's something else I wanted to share, but now I can't seem to remember.

What have you been up to?

  1. Leslie! Welcome back to Friday Fragments. I totally feel your pain about the cool weather. I will breathe a prayer for your daughter. It's hard to give up Coca Cola in Mexico or Latin America because they are just so good. Mineral water helps me when I start feeling the cravings for soda.
