Important Information for Moms & Dads in Mexico

It's February.  One thing every parent in Mexico should know is that February is the month to pre-enroll our children in school.  This applies to children starting Kindergarten, Elementary school or Junior High.

If your child is currently in his 3rd year of Kindergarten or in 6th grade of Elementary school, you should have already received the form needed to pre-enroll your child for the next phase of his education.  If you've just moved to Mexico, you can ask for a solicitud (application) at the school your child will be attending.

The application is very easy to fill out and asks for the following information:
  • The child's name, CURP, Date of Birth, Sex, Blood Type, Weight/Height
  • Whether your child is left-handed or right-handed
  • Your name, address and proof of address (a utility bill with your name and address)
Along with the application you will need to include copies of:
  • Proof of address (mentioned above)
  • I.D. (your passport, IFE card or driver's license)
  • The child's birth certificate and/or CURP
  • Vaccination record (It's not on the list of requirements, but they almost always ask for it.)
The pre-enrollment period for 2011 is from February 1st through the 15th.

Suerte!  (Good luck!)

  1. Hey thanks. I didn't even think of this. My son turns 4 in May so we will want to enroll him next year.

  2. I don't even live in Mexico but how good of you to post such useful information! :) I wonder if there is a blog out there relevant to my location... Hmmn.

  3. I don't live in Mexico or have children, but I do find this information informative. But for the life of me I can not understand why a school would want or need to know if your child is left or right handed. I am sure you have an answer, so please pray tell.

  4. funny, we were just discussing this in our home...great heads up though!

  5. Leslie you rock for thinking of putting a post about this. If its cool with you I think I will make a post that just links to yours. Im pretty sure that all my readers already read your blog but if not this is great info that shold be circulated.
