The End of a Blog

When I started this blog in February 2009, it was a way to keep in touch with friends and family.  I quickly fell in love with blogging, writing, sharing my thoughts and the details of our lives.

So it is with a heavy heart that I write this post.

December 31st, will be my very last post.

This is something that has been weighing heavily on my mind since mid-September.  And the busy-ness of the last couple of weeks, has really reinforced that idea.  I haven't had enough time to sit down and read (and comment on) some of my favorite blogs, let alone write for my own blogs.

I would love to be able to write everyday, but after a day of cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kiddies and helping Hubby, I am too tired to write.  Or even think.  Most nights, I don't go to sleep until after midnight, because I've sat staring at the computer just wondering what I should write.  Then I wake up completely exhausted and feel terrible that I didn't write anything.

One of the main reasons that I've hesitated in ending this blog, is the wonderful friends I've made.  I feel like I've known you all for years.  Some of you I even consider family.  Then I realized that just because the blog is ending, doesn't mean that our friendships will.  There's Facebook, email and of course, I plan to continue reading your blogs.

I just want to thank you all for sharing the last 2 years with me.  Thank you for being a part of our lives and for letting me be a part of yours.

Before I end this post, I would just like to say...Inocente!

Or as we say here in Mexico...
Inocente palomita que te dejas engañar!

Today is El Dia de los Santos Inocentes.  It's the Mexican April Fool's Day!  Don't believe everything you read or hear today, especially this blog post!  I'm not going anywhere and neither is this blog.  December 31st will be my last post for 2010, but you'll be seeing a lot more of me in 2011!

  1. I am kinda feeling the same way, but I will keep my Blog up regardless. And you are right, most of us who have drawn close over our Blogs now stay in touch through Facebook anyway.

  2. Very funny. I totally fell for it!

and....I think your commenter above did too. LOL

  3. Leslie,
Here we say: "Inocente palomita que te dejaste engañar" using "dejaste" instead of "dejas".

  4. I told my sister, who always goes through phases of ending her blog - just take a time out. You don't have to walk away completely.. you never know, you might want to come back - even if it is one year from now. The problem with completely ending it - you will lose some of your treasured readers. Reconsider totally walking away...

You have built something wonderful.. just press pause for now. :-)

  5. Well Good, I never enjoyed it anyway!

Now that I've said that, I can't wait for next years chapters....
I often jump before I completely read blogs too, so you are one cleaver cookie.....
Happy New Year to you and your family!

  6. Yay, that it wasn't true. I feel sorry for your family today! You'll have to share your other tricks you have up your sleeve. Talking about friendships-- is it wierd that I dreamed I met your family in real life?

  7. Well! Glad you are kidding!
There seems to be an epidemic of this 'bloggers wanting to bail' mindset!
Looking forward to your good stories and pictures of your family.
Is there a story or pics of your tapicería? I'd like to see that.
    See you next year!

  8. Im so glad that was a joke. I have not been blogging for long but yours is one of my favorites. Hope you and your family have a safe and happy new year!!

  9. Hahaha - good one Leslie!!!

I'm very happy you are staying put.... I love reading your blog posts :)

    Happy New Year amiga!!

  10. You got me! I was thinking "oh no!" until I got to the end. Yay! See ya next year!

  11. You really had me! With all the bloggers jumping ship lately, I've gotten used to it.

Glad you'll still be around because your blog is one of my faves!

    I'm an inocente... crap.

  12. Wow, you had me nervous. I just found your blog a couple of months ago and was feeling kind of blue until I got to the end. HA, HA, HA!!!!! Very, very funny!!!!!!

  17. CRISSY: Even if I do ever decide to end this blog, I will probably keep it up so others can come back and read it. I know I like to go back and read other people's blogs, even if they haven't written in some time. :)

AMY: LOL! Holidays like today are my faves! :)

BOB: We use both! I'm told both ways are acceptable.

NICOLE: I think almost every blogger goes through that phase once in a while. I've taken a few weeks off from it before and come back refreshed. :)

TANCHO: Ha ha ha! Thank you so much for the laugh! :) Happy New Year to you and yours. :)

LA FAMILIA GARCIA: Yes, a big YAY for it only being a joke. I haven't really been able to pull more pranks today, people aren't falling for anything today! :) And no, your dream isn't weird at all! I do have one question...Did we all get along as well as I think we would? :)

MEXICAN TRAILRUNNER: I've noticed that epidemic. For now, I enjoy writing and blogging too much to give it up. :) And you're in luck, there will be a post about the Tapiceria very soon! :)

LISA & JAVI: Awww! Thank you! Happy New Year to you too! :)

OMT: Thanks, amiga! I couldn't resist wreaking a little mischief in blogland! :)

GRACE: Sorry to scare you! I'll try not to do it again until next year! :)

JONNA: Thank you. See you next year! Feliz Año! :)

  19. You are good! I was getting sad, but wanting to be supportive and not say anything to make you feel bad about your decision. Then bam! you got me! I am looking forward to more Motherhood in Mexico!
    Happy New Year!

  20. I am so happy you are kidding..reading about your life both busy and happy..has inspired me to move to Mexico with the love of my life..after two years together..we are returning to his hometown of Mexico City and to his family..I do so with more confidence because I have faith, something I learned from you..that faith can take a person anywhere...

  21. I was so sad while reading your post and I thought to myself how much I enjoy your blog and I don't have Facebook, etc. And then you got me and all your other readers. You're pretty tricky! I totally fell for it and I'm really happy that you're not going to stop blogging.

  22. That was not funny. LOL. I'm in the same boat as many others on here, I just found you blog not to long ago and have loved reading it and the pictures. I am so glad that you are not stopping blogging. BTW did Santa bring that present that you ask him for?

  23. I was about to do two things; cry in disbelief and then I'm like WTH, how are you going to do the bloggy dare with me every day if you quit blogging??!?! Then I thought you were going to try and do a completely new blog for the challenge. Had me fooled, I was like, blog in the bathroom if need be!

  24. Very cute! Thank you for your support and prayers during this time. I really appreciate it! I love the gingerbread cookei ornaments! I want to wish you a very happy New Year! Have a great night!

    Mama Hen

  25. You are all so nice! It's nice to know that people really do enjoy reading this blog. Thank you all for your kind words.

KRISTY: Thank you. Many blessings to you too. :)

PAUL & KERRY: Sorry to have scared 2 of my favorite gringos! :) Love to both of you.

THERESA: Thank you for always being so supportive. I couldn't let a holiday like today go unnoticed. :)

VIEJA: What a sweetie! Thank you. One of the purposes of this blog is show people that you can live happily in another country. I wish you the very best in your upcoming move. Please keep me posted. :)

JACKIE: Making new friends, like you, is what I love most about this blog. :)

LIB: It was a little funny! And no, Santa didn't bring me my rechargeable batteries. But he did bring me a neat mini-camcorder to play with! :)

KRYSTAL: I thought you would have known I was only joking because of the Blog Dare. :)

MAMA HEN: That what bloggy friends are for. (((Hugs!))) :)

  27. This mad me so sad! I've been reading your blog for a while now!

  28. You naughty girl. I was going to suggest a once a month Blog which I know of one other blogger who writes on wise sayings as she is an older adult. I was starting to feel the pressure you wrote and a bit teary eyed. No one wants to see another fellow blogger end their blogging career, especially a good one.
