Creepy Crawlers...

Just when you thought it was safe to go to the store...

This is my bedroom window and part of the tree that is located only a couple of meters away.

As I was walking to the store, I noticed something on my window sill that caught my attention.  After closer inspection, I realized that these tiny green things were actually caterpillar droppings.  I didn't give the droppings much thought.  I figured they had fallen from the leaves hanging over my window.  Or maybe the wind had carried them from the tree.  I was content knowing that the caterpillar was nowhere near my bedroom window.

As I was about to sweep the droppings onto the ground, my eyes came upon the most gruesome sight, only inches away from my hand.  This hideous orange beast with a bright green underbelly.  (Much like the one I slept with years ago.)

Look how big it is in comparison to Hubby's hand.  And look how close it was to entering my bedroom window.

I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight.

  1. That is one thing about living in the frozen tundra of MN - we don't have to deal with many bug issues! That would creep me out. Once when I was eating a salad I found a green caterpillar in the bottom of my bowl. Seriously freaked me out and still have a hard time buying that lettuce from the store and eating it!

  2. I normally don't get freaked out by these things, but the sheer size alone would make me unable to sleep for a week!

  3. It was pretty big, but caterpillars can't hurt you. I see them outside and just get them out of my garden and put them some where else. I can't kill them because they are God's little creatures, but I sure wouldn't want one inside my bedroom . Tee Hee. Hope you don't have nightmares. Take care. Happy September!

  6. I like these sort of animals... when they are in their house - (ie- outside- WAY outside.) But when they are in my house- no way.

But I agree with Gloria- it is hard to kill them. I do not have the same affection for cockroaches/mosquitoes or Tabanos. I will those every chance I get.

  9. In some ways I miss Ohio winters when all the bugs would die off, but I've grown accostomed to living with bugs.

He won't hurt you unless it's some type of hornworm. Those can sting something fierce! Our gardens on the farm in Ohio always had them. <a href="http://www.google.com/images?q=tomato+worm&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=SLN_TJaMC4jUtQP2t7j1Cg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCUQsAQwAA&biw=1440&bih=713>Called Tomato worms, this is what they look like</a>

  13. Well I think hes cute, yes very big, but cute. Not that I would want him in my bed but he is still cute. One of my all time fav characters is the caterpillar on the movie The Labyrinth. Just watch this clip and I think you'll have a new perspective on your little friend. Or maybe not. lol

  15. When I first came across your blog I saw this post.  I agree!  Even now, being used to all the creepy crawlers, this guy is just plain disguisting! I haven't ever seen one of these here.

These are they guys that I hate.  They have those sticky legs. Grosses me out just thinking about them: http://bigvz.blogspot.com/search/label/bugs
