Farewell Winter..

The wind is blowing.

The sun is shining bright.

Days are much warmer.

The zancudos (mosquitos) are buzzing.

I have been cleaning like a madwoman.

And all six of us are having troubles with our allergies and/or asthma.

What does this all mean?

One thing....Spring is just around the corner!  And I couldn't be happier.

There was a time when I preferred the cold winter weather, but that was before I had kids and before I moved to Mexico.  Winter's in Southern California aren't that cold.  A little wet, but that's about it.

But Winter's in Mexico are a different kind of cold.  So cold, that you can feel it in each and every one of your bones.

Most houses in Mexico don't have heating.  We depend on blankets, jackets and lots of hot tea or coffee to keep us warm.

After this Winter, my ninth in Mexico, I have vowed never to complain about the heat and humidity again!  (Atleast for now!)

  2. nice post leslie. what a lovely picture. spring has definitely arrived in our neck of the woods, about a month early. on sunday i walked around our neighborhood and took some pictures of the cherry trees-they are magnificent. i will send them to you when my hubbie gets them down to the right size. right now they are huge so i decided not to send them out that way.

    have a great day!

  3. According to my homeboys we still have some "winter" weather here in Veracruz. Driving in from Puerto yesterday we arrived in Xico to some pretty ugly weather.

Next year maybe two months in Puerto ;-)

And yes my allergies were moved by the wind - ugh!

  4. SHANNON: Mexico is lovely. Very laid back and relaxed.

TERESA: I'd love to see those pictures. You can find my e-mail address on my profile.

CALYPSO: I saw what the ugly weather has done to Xico, on the news this morning. I thought of you immediately. I hope that all is well at your place. And that this is the end of the ugly weather.

2 months in Puerto sounds like a great idea! :)

  5. Spring can't come fast enough. It just snowed again today (in Virginia). Only like 1/2 inch though this time. Hopefully this is the last one?

  6. I think I am learning the routine -- summer in the mountains, winter on the coast. Nice living if I can find it.

  11. Hi, just popped over from SITS, I have just read your post about being an only child and wanting lots of kids. May I say snap!
I am also an only child and growing up I was often caught saying that I wanted 10 children!!! And I wanted to be an auntie of many! Well I have 3 children, I would have liked more but started to late for that!! and I have only 1 nephew sadly! I enjoy being a mum though. Your kids are gorgeous by the way. Have a fantastic week! Pop over if you have time. xxx
