My Happy List

My new friend Tammy, from I Don't Like Mama has tagged me to make a list of 10 things that make me happy.  (Tammy's a fabulous mommy blogger who decorates the most gorgeous cakes.)

10 Things That Make Me Happy (in no particular order)
  1. My hubby!  Aside from the fact that he's the love of my life and my best friend, he's also cute and funny.  The perfect combination.
  2. My kiddies!  I love them so much.  Just watching them play brings a smile to my face.
  3. Cooking and baking! I am happiest when cooking.
  4. Cows!  I love all things cow, especially if it's for the kitchen.  (My obsession make me easy to shop for...if it's got a cow on it, I'll be happy!)
  5. Hugs and kisses!  Nothing like a hug and a kiss from my kiddies!
  6. TV shows in English!  I know it sounds a little funny, but after living in a Spanish speaking country for 9 years, it's nice to be able to watch some TV shows in English.
  7. Comments!  This isn't a ploy to get you to comment.  But comments really do make me super happy!
  8. Reading a good book!  Now that I know that I can download books on to my computer, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't read.
  9. Holidays!  Did you really think I wouldn't mention how much I love holidays and how happy they make me?  I have yet to meet a holiday that I don't like!
  10. It's a Wonderful Life!  My all-time favorite movie!  I always feel so much happier after watching it.
Now, I'm supposed to "tag" 10 ladies to write their happy list.  But I follow so many great blogs, that I can't narrow it down to just 10.  So, if you want to make your happy list, go for it and let me know that you wrote one in the comments!

With Love,

  1. I made only one Resolution this year and that was to be happier....because being happy really is a choice.

There's a trick I've learned that helps me with this. My instant happy pill is....when I have a bad/sad thought (often happens during winter cabin fever), I stop and hold in my minds eye the face of my little bit of a kitty, Alice, who now hops up in my lap to gaze steadfastly up into my face with such love and trust until I return her attention and stroke her cheek. This from a shelter kitty that was too scared and angry to even be held the first month we got her.

  3. Maybe just a little bit of a ploy - excellent list ;-) For me it is hard not to be happy - and that is OK with me.

  4. Leslie,
I hope that you enjoy the holiday Monday for Mexican Constitution Day. It is a day off from work for most people. Days off from work make me happy. Hooray for the Mexican Constitution!

  6. MIC: Welcome to my blog! I agree...being happy is a choice that I try to make everyday! Just the thought of your little kitten makes me happy!

CALYPSO: Okay, so maybe it was a teeny, tiny ploy. But reading the nice things everyone says really does make me happy.

BOB: Knowing that a 3-day weekend is coming makes me happy. And then learning that it's actually going to be a 4-day weekend is even better! Viva La Constitucion!

1st MATE: I'd love to read about your happy list. If you do post yours on your blog, I will happily post the link on this post! :D

Four day weekend? Do you get a day off for Candelaria also? You must have a great boss. I have to work :(

  8. BOB: I'm a housewife, so I never get a day off! But the kids have tomorrow and Monday off from school. I'm still not sure why they get tomorrow off.

  10. I hear ya on the TV shows in English! Thank God for cable in Mexico.

Now I just need them to take out the Spanish subtitles, because I can't resist reading them!

  12. Leslie, what a wonderful list. It really shows that you have a lot of depth, a warm heart, and a beautiful soul. I'm stopping by from SITS Saturday Sharefest and am looking forward to checking out Tammy's blog as well, as I'm a pastry chef and cake sculptor and am always delighted to connect with other women who have a passion for the culinary arts. So pleased to make your acquaintance! Warmest wishes, Jenn

  13. what a great list! as one commenter said, "happiness is a choice!" however, life does "happen" and even the happiest of us sometimes have a down day! and it's o.k.

what cute teapot! now every time i see something with a cow on it, i will think of you. i collect chickens but had to get rid of some as my collection outgrew space on which to exhibit them.

have fun with your kids on their day off tomorrow.
